Collecting Information About You

Virginia Institute of Interpreting is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. Virginia Institute of Interpreting does not sell, share, or rent this information to any third parties, except as outlined in this policy for legitimate business purposes. Virginia Institute of Interpreting collects information from its customers to process enrollment in its courses, and to provide services such as enrollment/registration confirmation and course login information, notices, and status updates.

The information Virginia Institute of Interpreting collects includes students and prospective students name, mailing address, billing address, a contact telephone number (which is only used if there is a problem processing an enrollment order), e-mail address (required for any and all online transactions), and payment information such as credit card numbers. To protect the confidentiality of our customers’ user names and passwords, we ask customers not to share this information with anyone.

Virginia Institute of Interpreting also uses the contact information of those customers who choose to receive notices and/or to be included in an employer-searchable database for those purposes.

Virginia Institute of Interpreting reserves the right to disclose personally identifiable information as required by law or if Virginia Institute of Interpreting deems the disclosure to be necessary to protect its rights or to comply with judicial, court, or legal processes involving the company or its web site.

Registering/Enrolling in Virginia Institute of Interpreting courses

Registration is necessary to enroll in a Virginia Institute of Interpreting course. When you register for a course, you will need to provide contact and billing information. Once a payment has been processed, you will be given login credentials to access a course. Your information will be stored for record-keeping purposes only. Should you choose to be listed in the Virginia Institute of Interpreting student database (optional) upon successful completion of a course, your information will remain in the database unless you request for your record to be deleted.

Except where you opt to receive our notices, the information collected during the registration/enrollment process will be used to complete your registration/enrollment. To be able to enroll in a Virginia Institute of Interpreting course, you will have to provide financial information such as your credit card number, expiration date, and security code. This information is used only for billing purposes and to process your order.

If there are problems completing an order transaction, Virginia Institute of Interpreting will use your contact information to get in touch with you. To be able to process your credit card and complete your order, your personal and financial information must be shared with our partner learning management company (MindEdge, inc.) and the merchant bank for authorization and approval. This transaction is protected by several layers of security.

Upon enrolling in a course, students will receive specific contact information for student support. This is necessary in case student’s contact information changes, a username or password have been forgotten, or if technical support is needed. We ask students to use those email addresses. Notification of Changes

Virginia Institute of Interpreting reserves the right to change this privacy policy at any time. Customers will be notified of any and all updates to the policy via email, and a notice will also be posted on the home page. All changes will be disclosed.
