A School For Interpreters Founded By People Just Like You

Both V.I.I. founders, Gio Donatelli and Rocío Txabarriaga, learned English as a foreign language, and although they were born worlds apart, they share dedication, ambition, and an intense commitment to their world community. They created the Virginia Institute of Interpreting to open the doors of success and independence at an extremely affordable cost to everyone.

Giovanni Donatelli is President and co-founder of the Virginia Institute of Interpreting and he is responsible for overseeing all operations at the Institute. Mr. Donatelli is also an accomplished business professional with a background in finance and language services and has owned a successful language services firm since 1999.

In his work servicing national companies as well as government entities, he discovered a need not simply for interpreters, but for the far more important need of well-trained, qualified interpreters. That discovery became the inspiration for him to co-found V.I.I.

A frequent speaker nationally on the language services industry, Mr. Donatelli currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Association of Language Companies (ALC) in the United States. Mr. Donatelli has a degree in finance from Virginia Tech and speaks Italian and English fluently.

Rocío Txabarriaga, MA is Vice President of Content Development and co-founder of the Virginia Institute of Interpreting. She is responsible for course planning, development, validation, and maintenance.

Ms. Txabarriaga has over twenty years of experience in language services and international business management ranging from independent consulting to senior executive positions, and business ownership. Her extensive experience spans operations, ISO-quality processes, interpreter recruiting and training, qualitative and quantitative research and analysis, as well as in-depth involvement with several language technology platforms.

Ms. Txabarriaga has several degrees, including a Master’s from Monterey Institute of International Studies, has earned many certificates, and speaks five languages fluently. Ms. Txabarriaga is also a NASBITE-Certified Global Business Professional, and an accomplished writer and public speaker.
